Allie reading her 1st book...

Allie read her 1st book last night. She sounded the words out with very little help. She has been reading it to me all day, so I thought you'd all enjoy seeing how she is doing!

1st Day of Kindergarten!!!

Today was the day.....1st day of kindergarten for Allie. She has mixed emotions on the whole deal right now...she was really excited, but I think she must have set her expectations a little too high or something. But, she is okay with going back tomorrow, so that is good news. I coped okay....I had my breakdown a few days ago, so I did okay this morning! It should be a piece of cake now!!!

2nd Grade is a BIG hit!!!

Kayla had a great first day of school. Absolutely loved 2nd grade! I think it helped having the same teacher and same kids in her class....it was like summer never happened - not sure if that is a good thing or not! But good news is - she loved it and can't wait for tomorrow!

The Night Before School......

School had an Ice Cream Social and Meet Your Teacher Night. Kayla has the same teacher as last year, so she just found her desk and unloaded her supplies. She starts tomorrow and is REALLY excited! Allie had met her teacher in the spring so we could talk peanut allergy stuff....but she was really happy to see her again. She found her table and put all her supplies away. She will be very comfortable there after watching Kayla go there for the last 2 years. Allie doesn't start until Wednesday....It will be a very exciting day for her, but sad for me:( We went to dinner and ice cream with some friends.....more to come tomorrow:)

Bike Park

Andy took Kayla to the Bike Park to practice the dirt hills. She did really well, there wasn't a lot they could do because of all the rain we got over the weekend, but she had a good time anyway!

End of Book Club

Kayla had a book club this summer with a bunch of girls from school. They named themselves the "Eight Crazy Stingrays." Tonight was the last night. One of the girls has a horse they brought to give rides! One more week until school starts.....yikes!

Trip to Estes Park

We spent a long weekend at a house in Estes celebrating my grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary and my grandpa's 80th Birthday. We did a little sight seeing in Rocky Mountain National Park and some fun stuff in town. Andy, Kayla and I went on a mountain bike ride one evening. It was nice and cool up there.

Camping

So, we survived our first camping experience! Really no complaints other than it was extremely hot! We had great food and company (we went with our friends, the Axe's), my parents brought the boat up Saturday, and the kids kept themselves pretty entertained! All in all I'd say it was a success, we will definatley do it again, just maybe up a litte higher in the hills so we can get away from the 100 degree temperatures! Enjoy the slideshow - it's a long one!!!
